The whole diocese of Manchester has been attending our new bishop's talks about Lent on Wednesdays. Many of the parishes have cancelled their mission services, and have instead encouraged people to go to the Cathedral to hear the bishop speak. We have also been attending these talks. The bishop is a learned and holy man who speaks with warmth, humor, and expression. He amuses while he teaches, entertains while he inspires. Each week the Cathedral seems to be fuller and fuller, and the line to speak to the bishop before we leave is long and slow, as each person desires to talk to him about what has been heard and reflected upon. He is such a personable, kind person that we enjoy talking to him each time, too.
I just finished filming and taking pictures for a video clip that will be on the Felician Sisters of North America website. When I was a freshman in college, living in the dorms, there was a fire that ultimately killed three of my fellow students and injured many. I was not among that number, but it made me rethink my life, searching for a meaning and a purpose in my faith that allowed me to hear the strong call from the Lord to be "set apart" for Him. This is what I spoke of for the clip. We went to Enfield, CT for this, and it was nice to see some of the sisters from the novitiate and the central convent.
