Sisters Outing

Me and Sister Anita (both wearing beige) with our sisters from Adams, MA-- Photo taken on Mt. Greylock
This weekend, I took a needed break from preparing for my summer travels. I'll be away for two months and have been shopping, organizing, and packing. It was lovely to be away for the day, like a mini-vacation! The weather was gorgeous, and Adams, Massachusetts is in the Berkshires, which is a popular vacation spot. It was also a blessing to spend time with other Felician sisters.

At a recent fundraiser, I bid on and won two tickets to a museum of modern art in North Adams, MA. When I made the connection between North Adams and our convent in Adams, I got in touch with Sisters Jackie and Amandine and asked them when they'd be available for a visit. A date was chosen, and S. Anita and I were soon on our way.

It was a beautiful day for a drive, and the natural splendor of the Berkshires area was enhanced by the sunshine and pleasant breeze. We were warmly greeted at the convent; we four sisters sat and chatted together over fresh donuts and strong cups of coffee. We made plans to have dinner and see the sights around Adams with them after the museum.

The art museum was interesting. Though contemporary is neither of our favorite schools of art, we enjoyed the vibrant colors and experiencing different forms of expression. The best part was the guided tour of an artist who did large murals using geometric shapes and lines, with different shades of color. The insights from the tour guide brought the exhibit alive for us, and we might some interesting people. Afterwards, we returned to the convent, where we met the other sisters. They took us to a local restaurant for a yummy lunch, then we got ice cream.

We drove up the 3,491 feet to the top of Mount Greylock, the highest point in Massachusetts. From the top, we could see 4 states: New York, Vermont, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.
Sister Anita and I climbed to the top of a lighthouse and enjoyed the view from up there, too.

It was a full, fun, blessed day!
