November Days

The novitiate celebrated a lovely Thanksgiving together. We had a traditional Turkey-day meal, which each sister contributed to by making one dish. Sr. Carlotta's, the local minister, niece Danielle joined us for the holiday weekend. It was a relaxing weekend of sleep, private prayers, and shopping, for those who were brave enough to go out on Black Friday.
We joined the main convent on the property here for a day of recollection. We ate the noon meal with the sisters and joined them for an Advent talk given by our chaplain, Fr. Noel. It included making a mandela of our goals for the Advent season. It was a reflective, spiritual day. We also had a special holy hour for Advent, which was a great way to start the season.
The novitiate helped at the pre-Christmas sale held at the main convent here. It was like a big garage sale. A lot of people came and much was purchased. There was good Polish food for people to buy, too. The day was a success.
Sisters Heather and Grace taught a CCD class on Advent. The third graders enjoyed dressing up as and reading the dialogue of a person of Advent. It was a fun, interactive way to get them into the church season
