At the school, we celebrated Veterans Day with a special prayer service, in which all of the grades had a part. The whole school gathered to read a poem and intercessions, then pledged the flag and sang a patriotic song. Before attending this prayer service, I had a discussion with my class about who the veterans are and why they need our prayers.
We also celebrated by having Friday off! It was the same weekend as the pre-Christmas sale at our Central Convent in Enfield, CT, so we drove out there on Friday and returned on Sunday. It is a fundraiser that the Felicians in Enfield do for the needs of our retired and infirm sisters. There are games to play, items to buy, and plenty of good Polish food. The event was a success, and it was nice to see the sisters from that area again.
This week we had parent conferences and a faculty meeting. It's the end of the first marking period, and they needed to meet with me to get the report cards. My conferences went well, but it was a long, tiring week. I'm ready for Thanksgiving break! It starts with the half day on Wednesday and goes into the weekend. I will be travelling to New Jersey to see my family. I am looking forward to it.
