January News

The week's vacation from school was a welcome time of relaxation and visiting. I spent three days with my family and three at our central convent in Lodi with our sisters there. It was wonderful to go back to my roots, to feel the encouragement and support. The week went by very quickly and the retun to a school schedule was not easy! I have adjusted by now-- mostly, anyway.

We celebrated the Epiphany in school with a prayer service. The students gathered as three of them entered, dressed as the three kings, bearing their gifts for the Lord Jesus. We sang "We Three Kings" and read Scripture together. In my classroom, I have been teaching about the Christmas season. I recently taught about the religious significance of "The 12 Days of Christmas"; the students were very much interested.

I started the new year off with new units of study. One of them is a social studies unit on the state of New Hampshire. The third grade teacher has been a resident of New Hampshire for quite some time, and has offered to teach it, if I would teach religion to her students. I agreed and we switch places for 45 minutes each day. The agreement works for all involved!
