School has been interesting the last few weeks! We've had several delayed openings due to snow and freezing temperatures. My class had a project in religion about the ten commandments that was due. Each student was assigned one commandment and used a poster as a medium to explore what it means. They turned out well!
Most exciting, the newly-appointed bishop came to visit us at St. Casimir's School. He presided over a school Mass and then came to the school, where he was given presents according to the Polish tradition of welcoming guests. He was given salt, babka, and flowers. The salt was to remind him that though life can be difficult, there is more to it than that. The babka was a reminder of the sustenance that God provides for us, and the flowers are a symbol of the beauty of the created world that He gave us. The bishop was a warm man who spoke well, especially to the children. It was a blessed day!
We were busy as a local home, too. We celebrated our province's feast day, Our Lady of Hope, by going out to dinner and praying together. We were invited to two of the parish's events. One was the Catholic War Veterans celebration dinner at a local hall and the other was the Ladies Guild post-Christmas party. They were lovely events and we were grateful to be invited.
It was my turn to cook the last few weeks, and I enjoyed taking the time and being creative in what I made. It was a nice break from the paperwork, and I liked eating the fruits of my labors.
