We
had our curriculum fair at school. Each classroom had a subject and a project
to present to visitors. During school the children saw each other's work and at
night the parents and families came to see, too. My class worked on the human
body systems. They were funny about this; during the activities and reading
associated with this they were simultaneously repulsed and fascinated by
how the human body works. They broke up into pairs and made
certain body organs during class time. For example, one group had the
esophagus, another the lungs. I was proud of the work they did, and
interested in the projects in the other classrooms.
We
had a school Mass on Ascension Thursday. The students behaved well. Soon
afterwards, they had a speaker from the Water Department make
a presentation to them. It was a busy day!
I
attended the ordination to the diaconate of a local seminarian with Sr.
Frances. It was a lovely and meaningful Mass, and it reminded me of my
first profession Mass. I felt akin to the new deacon, and was inspired to
recommit myself to the vows that I made.
We
celebrated Memorial Day weekend together as a convent and with personal time to
rest and get ready for the school week. Sr. Frances' family has a beach house and
invited us to their cookout. It was a lovely day!
