The ending of the school year
was bittersweet for me. It was exciting and fun to start summer, and a relief to
sleep later. However, I missed my students, whom I had grown so used to seeing
every day. We had become our own community, a little family, really, and at
first it was kind of hard to not see them anymore. Next year when I see them
they will be big fifth graders! However, as I eased into the summer, I found my
joy increasing and my sadness decreasing. It was a good year with a nice class
but the year is done. And there is much to look forward to this summer!
I have been wrapping things up
in my classroom, cleaning and doing final preparations. The floor is going to be
cleaned and I needed to get the room ready for that, among other tasks. I did
some organizing and final paperwork. Then I went with Sr. Frances to Enfield,
where she went to an appointment and I enjoyed the company of our sisters there.
It's always nice to reconnect to the larger community.
I just returned from my
interviews to renew my vows. I flew out to Pittsburgh to stay with our
leadership sisters in Beaver Falls, Pa. The interviews went well, and it is nice
to spend time with the sisters there. It's a peaceful, quiet place most of the
time. I got a chance to visit some sisters that I met when I was in my earlier
formation years. These sisters are currently in the common postulancy, working
with our postulants, and I had dinner with them. We also watched a movie, The
Kite Runner, which I had never seen before and found really moving.
