Been very busy, and here is why ...
We
had the Penny Sale, the big fundraiser for the school, last weekend. It
includes an auction, a spaghetti dinner, and a brunch. It takes all
weekend and we raise between $8 and $10,000 for the school. This year's
was pretty successful, though it did leave us pretty tired, too!
My class has been working on
their projects for the past two weeks. They brought in their science
dioramas of habitats and shared them with each other. They are also
writing paragraphs and making a biographical poster
about a poster for our election unit. Because of this, I am giving less
day to day homework. These project grades are coming in just in time for
the end of the first marking period!
The class is working on a
faith involvement project. A group of parents and people from the parish
organize and run a Catholic project for each grade. My class' event is
about the saints; it takes place on November
2nd. They write a paragraph as though they were that saint and dress in
costume, as part of a larger skit. It's an inspirational, enjoyable
afternoon for everyone. It makes me so proud to see them up there.
I went to New York for my
great uncle's 75th birthday. About 30 people came, mostly family, to
celebrate. It was nice to see everyone, and to be there with Uncle
Billy, who is supportive of my vocation and proud of
me. I came home Sunday midafternoon, and ended up having Monday off
because of Hurricane Sandy. We spent most of today waiting for the
hurricane to come, but it's better to be safe. (And it's nice to have a
day off!)
