December Update

Hi, this is Sister Grace with another update of my December adventures ...

The weeks before Christmas were hectic ones, as I tried to teach about Advent, entertain increasingly excited children, and took my class to attend all the special Christmas assemblies and programs that were scheduled.
I realized, too, that the second marking period ends early into the new year and I didn't have enough grades, because of the play we were working on. So there was a rush to get homework, classwork, and test grades in, too! On December 20th, the last day before the break, I hurried to get the room cleaned out so that the maintenance workers could wax the floor. Then I bagged up my presents and belongings. Soon after I got home, the sisters who lived with me (and me, too, of course) went out to dinner and exchanged gifts. Then I sorted through my gifts from the students and their parents, did laundry, packed, and flew out the next day! It may sound hectic, but it was more so than it sounds!

After that, I had two weeks of relaxation. I saw family and friends, but it was not a big visiting holiday. I slept in, read, watched movies, did puzzles, and hooked my rug. It was very quiet, I guess boring at times, but overall I enjoyed it. My sister had returned from Japan, too, where she had been working for the last year and a half. We had a sisters' reunion! I was home for a week, and then went to the central convent in Lodi for a week. There was more visiting there, and more to do, with all of the sisters around. It was a nice reunion. At the end of the trip, we got the big snowstorm that hit the northeast, and I had to rebook my flight. I go back to school on Monday.
