It is hard to believe that my time in Perth Amboy is coming to an end! My time with the sisters, students, and faculty, as well as with my own family and friends, has been such a blessing. I had opportunities to work with all different ages of students, from 3 to 13 years old. I experienced ministry on all levels, from grammar to middle to high school, including public school CCD.
I enjoyed teaching French to the 8th graders, planning the lessons and hopefully transmitting love and appreciation for the language.I was joyfully surprised my last afternoon at the school, by a special thank you from the principal and my French students. I received a lovely card and gift, and felt their appreciation and affection. It was truly touching.
I shared about vocation and my personal journey with all of the grades in Perth Amboy Catholic and several high school groups. I pray that I was able to touch their minds and hearts with the wisdom and grace that I have gained from my journey with the Lord and the Felician Sisters. Sharing my story has been an opportunity to look back on my own past, to get perspective and insight into my own growth as I have walked with the Lord and community.
Today was the feast of St. Blaise, and I was honored to be able to bless the throats of many in the school. I was so glad to take part in a Church tradition that I have always been on the receiving end of. I was touched by the value of what I was doing, as well as the responsibility of my position.
We end Catholic Schools Week with a special luncheon at a local restaurant. Then on Saturday I return to Lodi, to prepare for my apostolic adventure!
